Board Meetings

Benton Franklin Humane Society Board Meetings are conducted on the third Monday of every month.  You may contact the office by phone at (509) 374-4235 for more information.

Meetings are open to the general public, and all are encouraged to attend.

Locations may be found in the "What's Happening" section of the Home Page; check one week prior to the meeting.

Meetings begin at 5:30pm.

Kirt Clem, Trustee

Kirt has worked at Hanford as a software developer since 1986. He has had pets all his life, including numerous cats and dogs. He presently has a three year old Cavalier King Charles spaniel named Baylee, a one year old Finnish Spitz named Ember, an adopted 15 year old Calico cat named Brandy, and an 11 year old adopted Siamese named Sassy. He is presently training both dogs to be therapy dogs.

Shannon Novakovich, President
term expires Dec. 31, 2010
BFHS Board Member since 2000. Shannon is Vice President of Esprit Graphic Communications, an international award winning printing establishment.  She has been an animal aficionado all her life owning, adopting, rescuing and caring for every kind of animal from raccoons to horses. Shannon and her husband, Skip, moved to the Tri-Cities in 1988 and are very actively involved in and support many area projects and organizations.  They now live on two acres with their "children", Clifford, a seven-year-old Saint Bernard and his "sister" Hayley, a 6-year-old rescue Saint Bernard.

Dave Parmeter, Vice-President

Dave fought a short and valiant battle against esophageal cancer, but passed away on the morning of November 30, 2009. Dave owned the
Autobahn Car Care Center in Kennewick and was a Rotarian who also found time to support the Humane Society. Please view Dave's story at www.davestory.org.

Dave is missed by countless friends and family, but deeply so by his recliner buddies, Murphy and Tucker.
Andrew Hicks, Trustee

Andrew comes to BFHS from Washington Trust Bank and has been involved with the Historic Downtown Kennewick Promotions Committee. He and his wife live in Pasco. They are proud parents to a two-year-old girl, and two Boston Terriers, Baxter who is 6 and Daisy, 4.  Andrew's hobbies include hiking and camping, as well as boating on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Originally from the Bellingham area, Andrew has lived and worked in the Tri-Cities for the last four years.
Debra Still, Secretary-Treasurer

Debra is a recent transplant to the Tri Cities, moving here in 2004 to begin working with her brother at the Autobahn Auto Care Center.  The majority of her career life has been in medical practice management on the coast but in 2000 she satisfied a need to return to Eastern Washington.  All along the way she has always had a love for animals and has never been without an assortment of dogs and cats, usually strays or rescued.  She is currently blessed with two cats, the very elegant Mr. Mister and the rather shy Gracie Lou.
Dick Petersen, Lifetime Member
A UW graduate, Dick has been a financial planner for over 25 years.  He is a life member of the humane society, having thirteen years with the BFHS. He has been active in Kiwanis for 30 years and has been involved with the Ben-Franklin Fair and Rodeo for 30 years. Have a shelter dog named Shotzi. Dick and his wife, Celine, have lived in the Tri-Cites for 40 years.
Tim Roloff, Trustee

Tim sells real estate for American Family R.E. and coaches boys basketball at South Ridge H.S. He and his wife, Tricia, have lived in the Tri-Cities for 21 years.  They have a grown son, Luke.  Tim is a dog lover and the Roloffs recently adopted a black lab mix puppy from the shelter named Buddy. Buddy has been a wonderful addition to the family.
John Ittner, Trustee

John is a retired nuclear engineer and is also the shelter's webmaster. He is a certified Franklin Covey Coach and has performed executive coaching for several BFHS staff. His wife, Ellie, is a Math Coach for the Pasco School District.  They have both volunteered at BFHS since 1998. Ellie was a Board member for two years.  John and Ellie have Kopi, an Akita-Chow mix from the shelter. They have lived in the Tri-Cities since 1974.  Their grown children reside in Seattle and Bellevue.
Dan Mulhausen, Trustee
term expires Dec. 31, 2011
Entering his fourth year with the Tri-City Americans, Dan Mulhausen acts as the team's Director of Marketing, Media and Game Operations. After joining the team at the start of the 2005-06 season, Dan works on a majority of the team's advertising and marketing campaigns, as well as keeping media and community members up-to-date on team activities. Dan also writes all of the post-game stories on Amshockey.com.  Dan and his wife, Jill, adopted Rex, a 100+ lb. Golden Retriever/Dane mix from the BFHS in November of 2006 to go along with their two other pups, Harold (American Hairless Terrier) and Jack (Jack Russell Terrier). They have also recently started fostering dogs.  They both have had dogs all of their lives and cannot imagine their lives without them. When not tending to their dogs, they both enjoy spending time on their saltwater fish hobby.
Michelle Inserra, Treasurer

Michelle is a Financial Services Professional for New York Life. Michelle and husband, Paul, have been married 27 years and lived the entire time in the Tri-Cities. Their first family pet was a black lab mix from the humane society. They currently have a Bengal cat, Lexi. Michelle has grown up with a wide variety of pets her entire life and has a very strong compassion for animals. She is also active with Soroptimist (professional woman's group), architectural control committee for her neighborhood, and NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors).
Sheri Dallas, Trustee

Sherri's career/schooling background is Engineering Technology and Surveying but now she is a busy stay-at-home mom of 3 who is never without a wide variety of pets in and out of the house. Born and raised in the Tri-Cities, married to Mark for 19 years, they built a house on 5 acres to have room for more pets. The Dallases currently have 1 horse, 2 mini donkeys, and 5 dogs. Two of those dogs are rescues. Having such a strong passion for animals, Sherri has started classes to become a Veterinary Assistant.Her family likes to ride 4-wheelers, swim, camp and work on the house.
