BFHS Announces Land Purchase!! At a media event on Friday, December 11, 2009, BFHS Operations Manager Ed Dawson announced the purchase of land for a new shelter and adoption center for the Benton Franklin Humane Society.
"We are pleased to announce that the Benton-Franklin Humane Society has secured land in which to build our new, larger no-kill shelter.
"The land is located on the eastern edge of the City of Kennewick at 1710 E 7th St. and allows us the space needed to increase the size of our shelter nearly three-fold.
"Given the number of animal-related stories over the past couple of years, the BFHS knows that an increase in the number of animals we can house at our no-kill facility is vital to our community.
"We want to thank everyone at the Port of Kennewick who helped us with every step in this process and helping us get that much closer to reaching our goal and realizing our dream.
"Although we are close to reaching our financial goal for the project, we still need your help. If anyone is interested in more information about how they can donate to our New Shelter Project, they can go to our website (www.bfhs.com) or contact us at the shelter. We offer individuals and businesses sponsorship opportunities at the new facility with a minimum donation to the project of $1,000."
