There are many ways that you can make your charitable donation to BFHS.

IN-KIND

***The shelter always needs clean used towels, dog and cat food, paper towels and especially cat litter (we use 50 lbs. of litter a day.) Bring pet care and food items to the shelter. The Wish List is posted on this site and on a board outside in front of the Shelter. Or, call us to find out what our current needs are.

BEQUESTS and ENDOWMENTS

Provide for the Benton Franklin Humane Society in your will, at any amount. This is a very popular way that long-term pet owners honor the many pets that have provided them joy and companionship over the years. In the will, the Benton Franklin Humane Society should be specifically named. A specific amount or percentage must be identified in order for the executor to make a legal payment.

Endowments to the Benton Franklin Humane Society are assets donated to us that are invested and which produce perpetual income for BFHS. Such donations are best made through a Donor-Advised Fund administered by the Three Rivers Community Foundation, a Tri-Cities umbrella organization for managing charity funding.

UNITED WAY

Most Tri-Cities employers allow employers to have a specified donation made to United Way as a deduction from each paycheck. Such donations, if unspecified, are distributed by United Way according to formula decided by the local United Way Board. Donors also have the option of specifying that all or a portion of their UW donation go to a specific qualified charity, such as the Benton Franklin Humane Society.

Research

The Benton Franklin Humane Society is listed in Guidestar, which is the leading charity evaluation and listing service. Another well-known charity evaluator, Charity Navigator, does not list BFHS due to our size, which is below their minimum level of funding for listing. Please note that BFHS provides information to only Guidestar. Information found on other charity navigation sites was provided by others.
