Good Morning:

The Benton Franklin Humane Society is pleased to announce that after nearly a year, the last of the rescued American Eskimo dogs surrendered to the BFHS have been adopted.

It was Memorial Day weekend 2009 when the area's only "no-kill" animal shelter took in 20 (10 adults and 10 puppies) American Eskimo dogs rescued from a Benton Co. kennel by the Humane Society of the United States and the Benton Co. Sheriff's Department. The puppies stayed in a foster home until they were old enough to get vaccinated and put up for adoption and the adults came in with varying degrees of social and health problems stemming from their time spent at the kennel.

But yesterday, May 19th, the last of the group found his "forever home", as Simba's adoption was finalized.

In all, 15 were adopted to homes in the Tri-Cities, one in Prosser, one in Moses Lake, two in Oregon and one in Montana.

"The BFHS is honored and proud to have been a part of a happy ending for these 20 animals that started out life in rough conditions."
